Wondering how to make zucchini bread in a bread machine?
Zucchini bread is a deliciously sweet treat that adds a healthy zest to your dessert and helps use up any extra veggies growing in your garden.
If you or your children aren’t much into vegetables (what kid is?), then it’s also a great way to get some much-needed nutrition in your diet without having to taste it, and why not jump in on the harvest-season fun by throwing a party with it at the center?
But making bread is difficult – all the kneading, the adding of ingredients, the waiting… Who has the time?
Here’s where a zucchini bread machine recipe comes in handy.
Let your machine do the work – and you enjoy the benefits!
Here are two delicious recipes that range from traditional to something with flair, so you’ll have dessert ready for days.
Zucchini Bread Machine Recipe
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
- 1 cup shredded zucchini, raw and unpeeled
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts (optional)
Bread Machine Zucchini Bread Method
Add all ingredients for the zucchini bread into the bread machine pan. For best results, be sure to add them in the order listed above, so if you choose to use walnuts in your zucchini bread, these need to be added last.
On your bread machine, choose the wheat bread cycle for a 1 lb. loaf. For the crust, you will select medium.
When the cycle has completed, take a knife or toothpick and insert it into the middle of the loaf. If it comes out clean, it’s done. If not, close the lid and select the warming cycle. Leave the bread in for about 30 minutes before checking again.
If you’re pressed for time, you can also finish the zucchini bread loaf in the oven.
To do this, pre-heat your oven to 350F degrees, place the loaf on a cookie sheet after removing it from the pan, and cook for 5-10 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
Chocolate Zucchini Bread Machine Recipe
This chocolate zucchini bread machine recipe is just as easy as the one above and even tastier.
It uses similar ingredients and takes about the same amount of time, so when your sweet tooth needs to be sated, it’s only a few minutes away.
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
- 3 tablespoons baking cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup grated zucchini, raw and unpeeled
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Chocolate Zucchini Bread Method
Begin by adding all ingredients to the bread machine in the same order as listed. Making sure to add the grated zucchini and chocolate chips last will guarantee that they are spread throughout rather than all going to the bottom.
On the bread machine, you will select the same settings as you did in the bread machine zucchini bread recipe. These settings are wheat bread, 1-pound loaf, and medium crust.
When the cycle is complete, remember to check it with a knife or toothpick. If it comes out clean, with the exception of a little chocolate from the chocolate chips, your bread is done and ready to cool. If not, you can choose to let it continue heating with the warming method or finish it in the oven.
As a reminder, to finish the bread in your oven, you will need to pre-heat it to 350F degrees, move the bread from the bread machine pan to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, and heat until the knife or toothpick come out clean.

Ways to Enjoy Your Zucchini Bread in Bread Machine
Zucchini bread is delicious on its own, but if you want to make it even tastier, try spreading a little butter on it.
For best results, add butter while it’s still warm.
You can also heat it in the microwave for about 30 seconds to warm it up once it’s cooled. Butter is a perfect addition to both the regular zucchini bread and the chocolate zucchini bread.
If you would prefer a cool treat, put the bread in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour before enjoying. Zucchini bread is great both warm and cooled.
Depending on your bread maker, the recipe may be a bit different. Always make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions that were included with the bread maker and make changes as necessary.
After you’ve made this scrumptious bread machine zucchini bread, try experimenting with other types of bread recipes.
Some great bread choices include brioche, banana bread, white sandwich bread, garlic cheese Italian herb bread, Hawaiian bread… to name just a few! With a little trial and error, you can eat more healthily or sate your sweet tooth at any time.
