It’s an extensive overview, but what do we really think about the Zojirushi BB HAC10?

It’s got nifty features all around, but that doesn’t mean it’s a perfect machine. While it’s up to you in the end as to whether or not the machine is worth it, here’s what we think after a few weeks of playing around with the machine.

The Positives

Perfectly Sized for One

The BB-HAC10 is light compared to similar bread machines, and fairly compact overall, making it nearly ideal for someone living in a tight space.

If you’re making the best of it in a small apartment, this machine will fit into the same space a microwave would on your kitchen counter.

Not only that, but its smaller loaf size means that you won’t be making bread or other treats that’ll just go to waste if you’re living alone.

With a larger machine, there’s always a risk of making too much food. Not so with the BB-HAC10.

Easy to Use

Not only does the Zojirushi BB HAC10 come with an easy to follow manual, but it also comes equipped with a non-stick kneading paddle that makes it exceptionally easy to use.

Ideal for beginners, this machine will lead you through the process of bread making and allow you to make all sorts of goodies with minimal effort – perfect for people with busy schedules but who still want to enjoy tasty, homemade treats.

The pre-programmed bake settings and easy to read LCD screen are intuitive to use and require minimal head scratching for the user!

Ideal for those of us who like to set it and forget it!

High Quality Loaves

You’re not going to be baking anything too fancy with this bread maker, but whatever you do make, you can be sure that it will come out exactly as you intended — just remember to follow the Zojirushi BB HAC10 recipes!

Equipped with two blades, you should expect even textures and flavors in your bread and ultimately a traditionally shaped rectangular loaf once baking is finished.

The number of bake settings are quite minimal — especially considering the bread machine’s price — but unless you’re a particularly creative or experimental baker, it’s unlikely you’ll be wanting more than you’ve got here anyway.

The BB-HAC10’s controllable bake time makes baking incredibly convenient too. Whatever your schedule, the BB-HAC10 will be able to work with you.

Quick Bake Cycle

The Zojirushi’s Quick Bake Cycle isn’t quite so rapid as the Oster 2-Pound Expressbake’s 1 hour program, but at two hours it’s certainly pretty quick and arguably of a higher quality than the Oster can create.

The Negatives

Price

The Zojirushi BB HAC10 certainly isn’t the most expensive machine on the bread maker market, but it certainly isn’t the cheapest.

Despite all of the the machine’s usefulness, bakers on a budget may shy away from its price — ironically, as students and one parent families are the most likely to benefit from the small size of the machine.

Smaller, Basic Bakes

While the BB-HAC10 is ideal for someone living on their own, its 1lb product size may be inconvenient for someone who wants to pursue bigger baking projects.

Plus the number of settings it sports is relatively limited — you won’t be able to do a huge amount of experimentation with this machine. Once you move past a beginner stage of baking, or into a larger apartment, this product may be less useful than it was previously.

Darker Crusts

This shouldn’t be a huge deal breaker, but we’ve found that the ‘regular’ crust color setting on this bread maker creates a reasonably dark crust. Perhaps this is why they don’t have a ‘dark’ option!

If you prefer a normal standard regular crust color, we suggest you opt for the light color setting or alternatively use milk instead of water to wet the recipe or even reduce the amount of flour you use by a couple of tablespoons.

Overall Verdict

The Zojirushi BB HAC10 is the ideal mini bread maker for people who live alone or in a couple. It’s easy to use, creates exactly what you need from a bread maker, and not to mention the delicious quality of the loaves it produces.

Plus it’s small and neat enough to fit into the smallest of apartments!

There’s not a huge amount of scope for experimentation for this machine and obviously your bakes may be on the small side. Its price is comparatively quite high considering its size and bake settings limitations.

The Zojirushi BB HAC10 does its best to make itself accessible to bakers of all stripes, even if the price isn’t ideal. It’ll fit perfectly into the right kitchen – it’s just up to you to decide whether or not that kitchen is yours.
