Kuissential 2lb Bread Maker Rated
- Loaf Quality
- Variety of Settings
- Ease of Use
- Value for Money
The Kuissential 2 lb bread maker is a great mid-market machine with plenty of settings (including gluten free!) and automated features — plus it produces tasty bread and other baked goods.
There’s no recipe book, unfortunately, so you will need to do a little experimentation to make the perfect loaf, and you should expect some pretty tall loaves at the end of it. However, it’s easy to use and simple to clean, and represents great value for money.
Whether you’re new to the idea of making your own bread or you’ve been doing it for years, the Kuissential 2-Pound Programmable Bread Machine could easily become your new best baking friend.
With thirteen different settings and unique features, this reasonably priced machine will be a great addition to your kitchen!
Of course, no bread maker is perfect, and the Kuissential is no exception. This review will be covering a few of its drawbacks as well as its advantages.
Let’s take a look at what this machine can do for you…
Kuissential 2-Pound Bread Machine: The Details
The sleek, white body of this bread maker can easily blend in with the rest of your kitchen decor; it’ll look right at home alongside all the other appliances on your countertop.
When closed, the only part that stands out is the black text and orange-lit display (the latter of which is only active when in use). But even those aren’t terribly attention-grabbing, and in the grand scheme of your kitchen, they’ll hardly be noticeable.
Let’s take a little tour around the Kuissential:
- Bread pan
- Crust color selection
- Menu selector
- Loaf size selector
- LCD screen
- Automatic fruit and nut selector
- Viewing window
Here’s a little more information about just how this machine stacks up.
In a Nutshell
- Weight: 11 lb
- Dimensions: 10 x 15.5 x 12 inches
- Loaf Capacity: up to 2 lb
- Settings: 13 bread and jam settings, 2 loaf sizes, 3 crust settings
- Timer: 13 hour delay, additional ‘keep warm’ setting
- Stand-Out Feature: Automatic Fruit and Nut Dispenser
Now that we’ve listed the basic details, let’s break it down and look at what they really mean.
Two Loaf Sizes
The Kuissential bread machine comes with two loaf sizes: a 1.5 lb option, and a 2 lb one.
This means it’s ideal for both small and large families. Only have a few mouths to feed? Choose the 1.5 lb loaf. Making bread for a holiday celebration or just a larger family? Go with the 2 lb setting.
No matter how many people you’re feeding, these settings give you options at a good price.
The ultra picky amongst us would have appreciated a small 1 lb option as well; but we can’t have it all!
13 Different Settings
This machine comes with 13 different settings, so there’s something for every occasion. Want to add fruit or nuts? No problem. It’ll even put them in at exactly the right time.
Just want to prepare a dough, or need a gluten-free loaf? It can do those too. How about making jam? Yes, it can even make jam!
Here’s a full list of all the settings:
- Basic (for plain white breads)
- Whole Wheat
- Rapid Bake
- Bake Only
On a side note, it’s worth mentioning that the Rapid Bake setting requires rapid rise yeast. Always check the settings and recipes carefully for optimal bread results.
You also have the option of three different crust colors with the Kuissential: light, medium and dark.
13 Hour Delay Timer
Perhaps one of the most useful features of the Kuissential bread maker is the timer. You can add all the ingredients for your bread, then schedule the machine to start at a specific time – up to thirteen hours in the future.
You want a loaf of fresh bread to be ready first thing in the morning, or after a long day at the office or school? How about some fresh jam to add to your morning toast? Whatever needs you have, this great feature will keep up with them.
Automatic Fruit and Nut Dispenser
Many machines alert you when it’s time to add extra ingredients (fruit, nuts, etc.), but the Kuissential bread machine isn’t one of them. Instead, it adds the extra ingredients automatically.
All you have to do is put them into the dispenser, choose the right settings for the bread you’re making, and the machine does the rest! No alerts, no need to watch the clock, no worrying about getting it right.
Just add the fruit or nuts into the dispenser when you add the rest of the ingredients, and forget about it.
This is a remarkably advanced feature for a mid-market machine like this one, and more at home with the premium machines like Breville and Zojirushi. We love it!
It can be hard to find good gluten-free bread in stores. Many of them are expensive, tough to chew, and taste like cardboard. Who wants a sandwich made out of that?
If you have a gluten intolerance, but still love bread, here’s some good news: the Kuissential 2lb bread maker comes with a gluten-free setting. Now you can make your own delicious bread, and never have a cardboard sandwich again!
While we love having the opportunity to watch our bread transform from a heap of ingredients into a fully fledged loaf, viewing windows can be a double edged sword.
The glass of the window often allows the escape of heat, which can lead to a less evenly cooked and crusted loaf. That’s why we usually prefer to buy bread machines that don’t have a window.
The Kuissential bread machine has found a nice compromise, however. There is a viewing window, but it’s found under a lid, which keeps the heat in as much as possible.
Keep Warm Function
If you can’t be there to remove your loaf from the bread maker as soon as it’s finished, you’ll be pleased to hear that it’ll be kept warm for about an hour.
Don’t leave it in there for too long though… you don’t want it to get a soggy bottom!
Kuissential 2 lb Bread Maker Review
Now that we’ve given you a basic rundown of the bread maker’s features, let’s take a look at some of the other perks it has to offer.
Finding the negatives of such a great bread maker isn’t easy, but this wouldn’t be a balanced review if we didn’t mention them at all.
So with that in mind, here are a couple of things to be aware of — and to look forward to — before you buy.
Makes Great Loaves
While your loaves may not have the fluffiness or even color of those baked in a high-end bread maker, there’s no doubt that the Kuissential can produce some really tasty bread.
We found the machine to reliably churn out delicious treats time and again, for whichever bake program you want to try.
Whether you’re making a simple whole wheat loaf or a batch of jam, you can be assured of some damn fine creations with the Kuissential bread machine.
Easy to Use and Clean
With a clear, easily readable display and simple commands on the buttons, this machine is simple for anyone to use, even if you’ve never made bread before. Soon you’ll be making bread like you’ve done it all your life!
Cleaning the Kuissential bread maker is a breeze as well.
The bread pan is removable by a simple twist, making it easy to clean every inch without struggle.
And if you don’t want (or don’t have time) to clean it by hand, it’s also dishwasher safe! Just pop it in with the rest of your dishes, and let the dishwasher do the rest.
Keeping the outside of the machine clean is equally easy. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth is all you need.
Inexpensive Gluten-Free Bread
As mentioned previously, this machine comes with a gluten-free setting.
So users with gluten intolerances or those who suffer from celiac disease can still make and enjoy tasty bread without worry.
Although gluten free bake programs are becoming more popular with the latest release of bread makers, it’s not exactly common to see such a setting in a machine priced as low as the Kuissential 2-pound programmable bread maker.
No Babysitting Required
Another feature of the Kuissential that’s more common in much more expensive machines is that so much of it is automated.
The fruit and nut dispenser, for instance, will automatically dispense at the exact right moment of the baking cycle without you having to lift a finger.
Most bread machines will instead let out a loud beeping noise when it’s time for you to add your mix-ins, requiring you to be at home and ready to attend to the machine.
The Kuissential bread maker can run on its own, whether you’re at home, in bed or out at work.
Yes, you read that right: the Kuissential bread machine doesn’t come with a cookbook or any recommended recipes.
If this is your first time trying your hand at making bread, this could be a slight setback. Of course, there’s also an easy solution, as bread machine recipes are plentiful online. Just spend a few minutes searching, and you’re sure to find one that works for you.
Just be ready for some experimentation, as the recipes you find might not be specifically tailored for this bread machine.
This is a bit of a fail for Kuissential, honestly: we can’t think of any bread machine — even much cheaper ones — that don’t have this basic support.
Very Tall Bread
While this may seem to be a minor problem, it’s still worth mentioning: the final product will be a rather tall loaf of bread.
Not truly a problem in the strictest sense, and for most uses it won’t cause any trouble at all. But if you want to put a slice of fresh bread in the toaster, you may have some difficulty getting it to fit all the way in.
It Runs Loud
Another small thing to note with the Kuissential 2lb bread maker is that it can be quite noisy — especially in the kneading cycle.
For people who live in small apartments or who share a house, you may want to think twice before you set the machine to start up in the middle of the night.
All in all, we recommend the Kuissential 2-Pound Programmable Bread Maker.
It’s inexpensive, produces tasty loaves and has a large array of features that are generally seen on much more expensive machines.
Easy to use and simple to clean, you’re sure to enjoy this machine whether you’re a bread connoisseur or a baking newbie.
Just be prepared for some recipe experimentation along the way. Kuissential: when are you going to release a recipe book?!
